Return to balance - Do what you Love

Benefits of Alexander

The Alexander Technique is movement education.  Our bodies are designed for movement, but our tension habits can cause pain and prevent us from doing what we like to do.

Through AT, we learn to free ourselves from unwanted tension and return our bodies to our natural poise. Less tension, more ease when we stand, sit, walk, run, sing, dance! Alexander Technique allows us to:

  • Optimize both artistic and athletic performance
  • Enhance presentation skills
  • Avoid repetitive-use injuries
  • Improve posture, breath, and voice
  • Connect movement and creative impulse
  • Strengthen the body/mind connection
  • Develop a movement vocabulary
  • Develop better balance and coordination
  • Relieve or lessen back and joint pain
  • Alleviate stress
  • Release painful patterns of muscular tension
  • Improve range of motion
  • Increase joint flexibility

Experts estimate that upwards of ninety percent of disease is stress-related. And perhaps nothing ages us faster, internally and externally, than high stress.

Alexander Technique lowers stress by alleviating tension, bringing your body into balance and improving coordination.

As a result, breathing improves, and your brain receives more oxygen, promoting health and wellbeing.

Several years ago, the British Medical Journal did a study on the Alexander Technique and back pain.  Click on the video at the top of this page to view!
